Happy Birthday John!

For what would have been John Lennon's 56th birthday on October 9th, 1996, visitors to this page were invited to contribute their birthday greetings.

John Lennon's birthday is a great time to reflect on what he means to all of us and to celebrate his work and his struggles for peace (both inner and world peace). If your words could reach him, what would you say to him?

Comments: John, i'm sorry to say i wasn't around in your life time, but i look forward to explore your legacy more thru the years. There's alot you left us,John. Many issues, and beliefs i have now, i wouldn't have known were ever in me if you didn't stand up for what you thougth was right. When i look at a picture of you, John, I can only wonder what you must have been like, and thought. But, all good things must come to an end,eh? WHen i think what the world would be like if you were still with us, i think. Then i realize, you're in all of us. All of us that come to this web sits, all of us who are reading this now, i think you all know who you are. John, you opened so many doors for us all, in your life time, my lifetime, and lifetimes to come. Saying "Happy Birthday" wouldn't do you any justice, if anything would. From what i've gathered of you, i bet you realize just what a difference you made for us all. Thanks- You are missed, John Lennon-

Even tell the television stations about it. You have a little over a month. I am posting this also on the webboards. Spread the word! We can do it if we all work together, I can't do it alone. Comments: John, The genius who changed so many lives. The working class hero who won the hearts of all who heard his call for perfect peace. The man who only wanted to live in peace with his family. The man who was shot by the American government for saying one inocent child should not go to war with another innocent child just because a load of murderors in the Whitehouse said so. The man who gave his life for what he believed in. The man who gave hope to so many. The father and husband. The boy who wanted to play rock and roll John-you will live in my heart for ever Happy Birthday, to you and your son

Comments: John, the world needs someone like you so much, and it owes you so much. I'll do my best to make people see that patriotism, religion, wars, competition, olympic games and politics are not on their side, they just care about you for as long as you can make them powerful, but some day in some way they betray you. And that love, helping and mutual understanding are the kind of things that will make a better world. Thank you john for teaching us so much!

Comments: Happy Birthday, John. . .What could I possibly say to express all that you mean to me? You died before I was born, yet you're more real to me than President Clinton is. You were a leader of men and a singer of songs, anger turned to joy in the world. I'm sorry if we ever treated you like god, you were human too, and made your mistakes. That's why we love you all the more, you were one of us. I know that things couldn't have just ended that December day, there was far too much light there for it to be extinguished. So where ever you are, happy birthday. What would you like as a present, a wrestling dog perhaps? Love forever. . . "And in the end, the love you make. . ." Peace, love, and makers of music, Imagine

Comments: well john, i hope we both have a happy birthday tomorrow. you have no idea how excited i became when i first found out that we were both born on the same day...back then i was very young and knew very little beatles music (we're talking 3rd-4th grade here). It's meant much more to me since i've been listening to the music and ama musician myself...or at least i'm starting to write now and have met some others whom i enjoy playing with. i don't know...as i read more about you and listen and read your interviews, i see more and more similarities in our personalities and it's kind of exciting. between you and i, i've wanted to be a musician since the 4th grade, and i've always know i'm going to succeed, so here's to a good future. we miss you, we love you, enjoy yourself out there.

Ms. Diamonds (Ms._Diamonds@dalton.org)
Comments: John, you mean so much, not only to me, but to millions of people around the world. You were more than just a pop star- you were truly a hero and a peace pioneer. I visited your memorial in Strawberry Fields, and, not for the first time, cried thinking about the great tragedy it was for the world to lose such a great man. But it also gave me lots of hope- seeing mothers try to explain to their little children who you were and what you meant; the mere words "singer," "composer," "beatle," "peacemaker," "author," "artist," can't even begin to describe who you are and what you mean. It also gave me hope to see manhattanites, usually in a hurry, to stop for a moment, when the passed the sign, and think about what you meant for them. It gave me hope to know that even though you are not with us, your message lives on for generations to come. You were far from a saint, John, but the world will always love you. We should all think about, on John's birthday, what John Lennon really means to us. Keep it to yourself, let it be your guidig light as you strive to attain the ideals that John always imagine. Remember: it might not be possible, but it doesn't hurt to try. Happy Birthday, John....56! Imagine what you would've been like at 56!! "i hope yoko and i are an old couple living somewhere off the coast of Ireland, looking back at our scrapbook of madness." Unfortunately, things don't always turn out as we plan. Happy birthday John, hope you have a big party up there in heaven! Ms. Diamonds

Comments: Dear Winston O'Boogie, HAPPY BIRTHDAY !!!!!! HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU AND YOUR BEAUTIFUL BOY!!! Wow, 40 interesting years, and 16 sad ones! Who would have even considered DREAMING a tragedy of this..you... to happen to you??! I've only known the Beatles for only about a year now, but in some ways, it's like I've always known you, I suppose, possibly all of you! Tell me John, can you explain why?? Then again, you don't need to, I have an idea why, because we carry a lot of what you and the Beatles thought? Would you say that's about right?:-) I think all I've wanted to say HAS been SAID through all these birthday wishes, and of course, through the YEARS! What can you really say, you are the BEST! A PEACE PROVOKER, A WISE MAN BEYOND HIS YEARS, A COMEDIAN, A LOVER OF ALL SORTS, A SENSITIVE MAN, A MEANINGFUL MAN, and of course I've heard you are a SONG WRITER, SINGER, COMPOSER, ARTIST (OF ALL SORTS AS WELL), POET, AUTHOR, THINKER, AND ONE OF THE BEST THINGS TO BE, A ****DREAMER****!! John, whether you see this or not, let me assure you everyone who's anyone and everyone loves you!!! Whether or not they've actually heard any of your songs or Beatle songs! Let's face it, everyone could BE JOHN LENNON, since it seems to be we all have PEACE and LOVE tucked away somewhere in us! Well, I've said all I've said, so I won't hold you over any longer.... Will you ever consider sending some new songs to Paul, in any way you can think of, so we can hear a 'part' of you again? Do you think I'll ever to to send a letter to Paul, with a poem of mine, and possibly make it a song? Would YOU have?? So many questions, but silence is all that answers back!! JOHN, PEACE, LOVE, SHINE ON AND ON AND On and On and on and on....., KEEP HELPING US "IMAGINE"! HAPPY 56th JOHNNY!!!!!!!!!!!! Jude!:-)
